Suggestions for Week of June 1-5
Reading - aim to read for 20-30 minutes each day. You can read books that you have at home, go on GetEpic, or Kids A-Z.
Writing - listen to some of the following stories on Youtube about persuading someone:
Can I Be Your Dog?
Hey, Little Ant
I Wanna Iguana
Then check out some of the persuasive videos on GetEpic (just type persuasive in the search bar). Next choose something that you would like to persuade someone about (ex. getting a new pet, redecorating your room, whether or not kids should have homework, why people should protect the planet, etc) and write a persuasive letter.
*Think of an OREO to help you plan your argument (state your Opinion, a Reason, an Explanation of your reason, and restate your Opinion; double or triple stuff your OREO to make it even better!).
Math -
Number talk example: subtracting tens 48 - 30 =
*Remember that this is an example of the type of question to focus on this week. Have your child explain how they solve the question. Try a different question each day (ex. 59 - 20, 86 - 50, etc).
Counting collection: count a collection and then discuss the following...how many would I have if I added two more/took two away, added ten more/took ten away, how many more/fewer would I need to have 20/50/100?
