Suggestions for Week of June 8-12
Reading - aim to read for 20-30 minutes each day. You can read books that you have at home, go on GetEpic, or Kids A-Z.
Writing -
Father's Day is Sunday, June 19! Make a poster or booklet for your dad/step-dad/granddad to celebrate him! Here are some ideas of things that you can include: his name, his age, what he's good at, what he ALWAYS says, his favourite thing to eat, what he likes to do at home, your favourite memory with him, etc.
It's the end of the 2019-2020 school year, so it's time to reflect on your year. Create a poster to remember some of your favourite events. Ideas to include: your classmates' names, your teacher, your favourite subject, your favourite memory, the funniest thing, your proudest moment, your hopes for the new school year, etc.
Create a sensory poem about summer - what does it feel like, smell like, taste like, look like, and sound like.
You can also try an acrostic poem and a haiku about summer!
Create a summer "bucket list" of things that you would like to do (I want to... read the 7th Harry Potter book, bake a lemon cheesecake, teach Stella a new trick, paint a picture, play in the sprinkler)
Create some "Would you Rather" questions and ask your family (ex. WOULD YOU RATHER....get to have as much ice cream as you want this summer, but only vanilla? OR only get to have ice cream three times this summer, but you can have whatever flavours you want?) Don't forget to discuss the reason for your answer.
Math -
Number talk example: double digit subtraction 45 - 22 =
*Think about finding the difference between 22 and 45...how many more do you need?
Activity of the Week: ask your family (and call your friends!) your Would You Rather questions and use the data to create a tally chart and a bar graph
